Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce Lead All-Star Investors in Alpine F1 Team

Golfer Rory McIlroy and Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are part of a group that has invested €200 million ($211m) in the Alpine Formula 1 team. Joining them as backers through Otro Capital include boxing’s former unified heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua, Liverpool FC fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold, world No. 10 men’s tennis player Alexander Zverev, and World Cup (Spain) winner Juan Mata. French automaker Groupe Renault remains Alpine’s majority owner but has turned to PE investment in its efforts to grow its ability to compete and adapt to the demands of the modern sporting landscape.

A Shohei Ohtani Documentary is Coming to Disney+ in November

A new documentary on Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani‘s life called Beyond the Dream is set to release on Disney+ and will chronicle Ohtani‘s journey from Japan to MLB. The 29-year-old said in a statement via Disney: “Hearing the stories shared by my childhood heroes has been truly inspiring. I hope this documentary stands as a testament to the importance of resilience, passion, and self-belief in the pursuit of excellence.” Scheduled to drop on Nov. 17, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Beyond the Dream will include interviews from Ohtani, coaches, players, managers, mentors, and other personalities who helped the athlete on his road to stardom.

Stephen Curry Awarded for His Efforts to Diversify Golf

Stephen Curry will receive The Charlie Sifford Award, which recognizes those for their work in promoting diversity in golf, the World Golf Hall of Fame revealed on Tuesday. The Golden State Warriors star will be presented the award on June 10, 2024, during the 124th US Open in Pinehurst, NC. Created in 2021 in honor of the first Black golfer to play on the PGA Tour, the honor celebrates “groundbreaking achievements through perseverance, confidence, respect, and adaptability.” Curry’s golf triumphs include launching Underrated Golf in 2021, a business endeavor providing equity, access, and opportunity to student-athletes from all communities, and in 2019, Curry helped HBCU Howard University compete on the Division 1 level by funding the golf team for the next six years.

Mike WiLL Made-It Teams up with ESPN for NBA Season

The 2023-24 NBA season tips off next week. In advance of ESPN’s first broadcast on Oct. 25, which will feature a Celtics/Knicks and Spurs/Mavericks double-header, the network announced that it has tapped Mike WiLL Made-It to feature his new hit “Different Breed” to soundtrack the season. The legendary producer reflected on the “perfect partnership,” saying, “I make the music people want to ball to.” The song is the first in a series of crossover music moments for ESPN, which will also feature custom songs for major moments on the NBA schedule throughout the season.

‘Drive to Survive’ & ‘Full Swing’ Stars Set to Face off in Live Netflix Event

As part of a crossover event between the stars of Netflix shows Drive to Survive and Full Swing, four Formula 1 drivers will compete against professional golfers ahead of next month’s Las Vegas Grand Prix. Announced Tuesday by Netflix as the streaming giant’s inaugural live sports event, F1 racers Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly, and Alex Albon will be paired with PGA Tour players Collin MorikawaJustin Thomas, Max Homa, and Rickie Fowler. Catch The Netflix Cup streaming live on Netflix beginning at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET on Nov. 14.

Deion Sanders Set to Release New Book in March 2024

Deion Sanders is ready to share the blueprint to success. The Colorado coach will drop a motivational book titled Elevate and Dominate: 21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field on March 12, 2024. “Success isn’t just about what you achieve between the lines on game day or stacking up money that you may never get to fully enjoy. It’s about winning in ALL ASPECTS of life,” Sanders said in a statement via ESPN. “From the mindset you cultivate, the discipline you uphold, and your faith in God — champions aren’t born; they’re made, day by day, choice by choice and decision by decision. You’ve got to BE CONSISTENT and BELIEVE every darn step of the way.” This marks the second book for Sanders. His memoir, Power, Money & Sex: How Success Almost Ruined My Life, was released in 1999.

Peloton Becomes Official Fitness Partner of NBA & WNBA

Peloton, the NBA, and the WNBA announced a multi-year partnership on Wednesday, with the leagues naming Peloton as an official fitness partner.  The collab will make NBA League Pass available to stream across the Bike/Bike+, Tread/Tread+, and Row in the fitness platform’s new entertainment hub, which is scheduled to launch during the 2023-24 NBA season. Additionally, Peloton will develop NBA– and WNBA-themed classes throughout each league’s respective seasons. The W and Peloton will also work together on WNBA-focused projects ahead of the league’s 2024 season. On the men’s side, Peloton will present custom content through “NBA Fitness,” a new digital content feature within the NBA App.
