The Cleveland Browns & the Tale of 2 Quarterbacks

The Cleveland Browns are playoff-bound. However, this season has unveiled some storylines no one could have predicted, especially concerning the QB1 position.

Cleveland Browns fans find themselves rejoicing as we enter the final week of the NFL regular season. The team sits in second place in the AFC North at 11-5.

However, not even the most keen of NFL analysts could have predicted who would be a cornerstone of the team’s success towards the end of the season. Heck, even the man himself seems surprised by his success. Veteran QB Joe Flacco inked a one-year deal with the team on Dec. 13.

Flacco started his first game for the Browns on Dec. 3, and in his five-game stint, he’s led the team to a 4-1 record and helped them clinch the No. 5 spot in the AFC. He’s also cracked the 300-yard plateau in four of his five starts while throwing for at least two touchdowns in all of them. Not bad for a guy who thought his NFL career was over.

The story isn’t all sweet for Browns fans, though. The team lost its franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson, earlier this season. Watson signed a five-year contract worth $230 million in guaranteed cash ahead of the 2022 NFL season, meaning they’re paying him a hefty check for each week of missed action.
