Sam Bankman-Fried Arrested in the Bahamas
The disgraced founder of FTX has been arrested by authorities in the Bahamas. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the SEC filed allegations of fraud against Sam Bankman-Fried, and he’s expected to be appear before a judge in Manhattan on Tuesday. In the SEC documentation, he is alleged to have withdrawn funds from customer accounts to fund Alameda and his flush lifestyle.
Durant Family Foundation Teams up with Bowie State
Maryland’s oldest HBCU just got a huge holiday gift. Kevin Durant and the Durant Family Foundation announced that it has committed $500,000 to Bowie State’s AC Jordan Arena and additional updates to the school’s Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex. The renovations follow a trend for Durant Family Foundation, which has previously renovated 27 basketball courts around the globe in cities like Berlin, Oklahoma City, Guangzhou, Taipei, New Delhi, Redwood, San Francisco, and Tokyo.

Twitter Auctions off Office Items Following Massive Layoffs
The Twitter fiasco continues. According to TMZ, Elon Musk laid off “thousands” of employees and in the process, will host an online auction for office decorations and supplies. Some of the items include a Twitter blue logo, computers, kitchen equipment, and chargeable exercise bikes starting at $25. The auction goes live on January 17.
Bryce James Follows in the Family Footsteps, Signs with Klutch
Klutch Sports is turning into a family affair. On Monday, LeBron James’ youngest son, Bryce James, signed an NIL contract with the agency to help find opportunities for endorsements during his prep career. Bryce, 15, is viewed as one of the top long-term prospects. The news comes on the same day that Klutch boss Rich Paul revealed that he is writing a memoir. Lucky Me is set to release in June via Jay-Z‘s Roc-Lit 101 imprint.
Maria Taylor Heads Back to College with NBC's Big Ten Coverage Team
NBC is bringing Maria Taylor back into college football. The NY Post reported that Taylor will become NBC’s studio host on Saturdays for its upcoming Big Ten package, beginning in Fall 2023. Taylor, who leads Football Night in America on Sundays, will stay in the current role — but her first big break was on ESPN’s College GameDay as a sideline reporter.

The Golden Globe nominees are out with no shortage of star power. Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga are among the nominees for best original song at the 2023 Golden Globes. Rihanna is nominated for “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; T-Swift was nominated for “Carolina” from Where the Crawdads Sing; and Lady Gaga was nominated for co-writing “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick. Abbot Elementary led all television nominees with five nods. While the fan-favorite Everything Everywhere All at Once was nominated for Best Musical or Comedy.
Brad Pitt Sells Majority Stake in Plan B Productions
Movie star (and investor) Brad Pitt sold 60% of his stake in his production company, Plan B, to a French company. Pitt, who became the sole owner of Plan B, after his divorce from Jennifer Aniston will reportedly make “hundreds of millions” of dollars from the sale.
