The World of Women NFT Community’s All-Star Owners

The digital collectibles phenomenon has attracted attention of everyone from Shonda Rimes and Reese Witherspoon to Von Miller and Steve Aoki.

Bored Apes, Cryptopunks, and highlight Moments of NBA players have dominated the NFT scene. But last summer, Yam Karkai wondered where the ladies’ seat was at the non-fungible table. So she decided to create the World of Women community in July 2021.

Harnessing the power of female representation, inclusivity and diversity, World of Women features 10,000 unique artworks of badass women of all kinds. Major players like Gary Vaynerchuk started to take notice and the project took off, being named one of Boardroom’s best NFTs of 2021.

Hosted on OpenSea and authenticated on the Ethereum blockchain, more than $6 million Women NFTs have been bought and sold over the last week, with two recent sales eclipsing $500,000. The average WoW price on Feb. 19 was $35,700, more than double the $16,720 average recorded on Nov. 8. Top athletes like LA Rams linebacker and future Hall of Famer Von Miller and WNBA All-Star Napheesa Collier and celebrities including Reese Witherspoon, Steve Aoki, Eva Longoria, and Shonda Rimes are all WoW owners who proudly embrace the brand.

We should note that Witherspoon is further doubling down on World of Women IRL, announcing a partnership between Karkai, WoW and her Hello Sunshine media and production company. The deal will see World of Women expand into feature films, TV series, live events, and more. That’s in addition to World of Women’s management deal with legendary talent agent and tech investor Guy Oseary, who’s betting on Women to become a multi-media force just like Witherspoon is.

The two power players see broad reach, appeal and utility for the World of Women brand beyond its NFTs — something that must be encouraging with the product still less than a year old.
