Jenni Hermoso Takes Legal Action Against Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales

Spanish soccer star Jenni Hermoso has accused Spanish FA boss Luis Rubiales of sexual assault for kissing her following Spain’s Women’s World Cup win, officials confirmed on Wednesday. According to the Associated Press, Rubiales could either be ordered to pay a fine or serve a one- to four-year prison sentence in accordance with a new sexual assault law passed in Spain last year. On Aug. 27, the 46-year-old was suspended by FIFA for his actions, one day after he refused to step down from his post as president. Jorge Vilda, the manager who led Spain to its first title, had initially supported Rubiales before eventually voicing criticism of the federation boss. On Monday, Vilda was terminated from his position.

Paige Bueckers expanded her deep endorsement portfolio on Wednesday — the UConn standout announced that she’s inked a deal with Nike. She is expected to promote the Swoosh’s GT Hustle sneaker throughout the season. The Nike news comes on the heels of Vanessa Bryant’s announcement that the Huskies’ hoops program will be one of six Nike Kobe Brand schools. In a statement, the 2021 Naismith Player of the Year called her newest deal “a childhood dream come true.” Bueckers has multiple NIL deals, including Bose, Crocs, and StockX.

Comcast, Disney Accelerate Negotiations Over Hulu Sale

After eyeing a January 2024 deadline for a potential sale, it seems as if Comcast will offload its 33% stake in Hulu to Disney sooner than we thought. According to The New York Times, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said Wednesday that Sept. 30 is the new date for a formal appraisal process to begin in order to determine Hulu’s valuation and, in turn, potentially conclude negotiations. This process was initially set to begin after January. “It will take a little time for this to play out, but both companies wanted to get it behind us,” Roberts said. “So we pulled the date forward.” Originally valued at $27.6 billion, Roberts teased that the streaming platform could hit $30 billion by the time negotiations end. Hulu currently boasts around 48 million subscribers. However, downloads of the app declined 13% year-over-year, it was reported in June.

Impending Apple Deal Drives Arm Valuation to a Reported $52B

Apple has signed a new contract with British chip design company Arm to license its chip technology that extends beyond 2040, according to CNBC. In the SEC filing published Tuesday, it appears Arm unveiled pricing for what it hopes will be a $52 billion initial public offering, which would be the largest transaction of its kind in the US this year. The two brands have a storied past. Apple was one of the initial corporations that partnered to start the firm in 1990, before the release of its “Newton” handheld computer three years later, which featured an Arm-based processor chip. Although the Newton failed, Arm went on to monopolize mobile phone chips because of its low power consumption that extends a battery’s life.
