Tesla Revenues on the Rise Despite Sales Slowdown

It’s been a big week for earnings reports. Following in the steps of Microsoft, Tesla unveiled its Q4 numbers on Wednesday following a rocky end of the year, marred by a drop in demand for the electric vehicles and founder Elon Musk’s unpredictable behavior as he took over Twitter. However, the report reveals an increase in revenue, increasing 37% year-over-year from Q4 2021. The company also announced a new factory facility in Nevada earlier this week.

Lizzo, Bad Bunny Set to Take Over the Grammy Stage

The biggest night in music is set to rival the best of the best of the upcoming festival season lineups. The Grammy’s, which will take place on Feb. 5, will feature live performances from Lizzo, Bad Bunny, Kim Petras and Sam Smith, and more. The Recording Academy revealed its first set of performers on Wednesday. Over the course of the last several years, the show has shifted to feature more live acts throughout the night’s programming.

MSG’s Use of Facial Recognition Software Draws the Attention of NY AG Letitia James

Madison Square Garden is collecting all sorts of data from its sellout crowds. Reports indicate that the iconic venue utilizes facial recognition software, using it to keep out some of its perceived foes. The home of the Knicks and the Rangers turned away a number of lawyers involved in litigation against MSG Entertainment. New York Attorney General Letitia James is looking into the matter, as it may be in violation of state and federal laws. Additionally, she indicated that flaws in the software could potentially lead to discriminatory practices by MSG staff. In a statement, James said simply, “MSG Entertainment cannot fight their legal battles in their own arenas.”

Athletes Unlimited Softball Unveils Its Home for Upcoming Summer Seasons

Athletes Unlimited softball will find its home in the Windy City. The all-women’s league announced on Thursday that it will call Rosemont, IL home for both the AUX Softball and Athletes Unlimited Softball Championship seasons. The Stadium at Parkway Bank Sports Complex, famous for being the first professional sports venue dedicated exclusively to women’s professional sports in the United States, will serve as the homefield. The AUX Season will kick off on June 9 and broadcast across the ESPN networks.

Penske Media Eldridge Scoops Dick Clark Productions

Counting down to 2024 already? The iconic production of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will have a new owner and operator. Penske Media Company serves as the parent company of such outlets as Variety, Deadline, and Rolling Stone. Penske Media Elridge purchased Dick Clark Productions. In addition to the annual celebration, Dick Clark Productions boasts a portfolio that includes the production rights for the Golden Globes, the American Music Awards, and the hit show So You Think You Can Dance. The financial details of the deal are unknown at this time.

Nike Sues BAPE for Footwear Infringements

Nike is headed to court. The Swoosh filed a suit on Wednesday against Japanese brand BAPE, accusing the company of a long history of copying their iconic footwear designs. Boardroom’s Nick DePaula tweeted details about the lawsuit, noting that they were spurred to action because “BAPE’s infringements have recently grown to become a significant danger to Nike’s rights.”

He’s always been about that action. Now, Marshawn Lynch is celebrating the playoffs by heading into the NFT market. The former Super Bowl running back filed paperwork for trademarks for “downloadable virtual goods … NFTs and digital collectibles,” according to trademark lawyer Josh Gerben.
