Cristiano Ronaldo Tops Forbes’ Highest-paid Athlete List

After hauling $46 million on the pitch and nearly double off of it with $90 million, Cristiano Ronaldo is this year’s highest-paid athlete, per Forbes. The 38-year-old’s move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in January helped propel him to the list, as his annual playing salary is estimated to be $75 million. Not to mention, the Portuguese international also boasts brand deals with Nike, Armani, Tag Heuer, Egyptian Steel, Herbalife and more. Ronaldo was followed by Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé LeBron James, and Canelo Álvarez to round out the top five.

Lil Wayne to Broadcast Tour Finale

Lil Wayne wraps his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour next weekend, and he wants everyone to be a part of the closing festivities. The “Lollipop” rapper announced that fans will be able to stream the performance, scheduled for May 13 at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. Expect the live airing to begin on Saturday, May 13 at 9 p.m. PST. If you can’t catch it live, it will be rebroadcast twice more in later windows. Users who buy access to the stream will be able to watch the show at their leisure for two days following the gig.

The stars are coming to Cleveland. Missy Elliott, Rage Against the Machine, and Willie Nelson are among the most recent class announced who will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Four PGA Tour pro caddies, Geno Bonnalie (Joel Dahmen), Aaron Flener (J.T. Poston), John Limanti (Keith Mitchell), and Joel Stock (Will Zalatoris) are making headlines after landing a six-figure endorsement deals with SAXX Underwear. The brand shared the news alongside a 60-second commercial aptly titled “The Ball Masters.” This deal marks the first of its kind for a group of pro caddies, who play a supporting, yet vital role in the game.

Warriors/Kings Draw Biggest First-round Audience in 24 Years

An average of 9.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the Game 7 of the Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings series. The game marked the most-watched first round NBA playoff game in 24 years, per the league. Furthermore, the contest became ABC’s largest audience for a non-NBA Finals postseason game ever. In total, TNT delivered its most-watched first round in half a decade, averaging 3.5 million viewers (up 6% vs. 2022).  For Disney platforms (ABC and ESPN), it was the most-watched first round ever with an average of 4.5 million viewers, an 18% increase from last season.

Uber Outdrives Revenue Predictions, Spark Stock Increase

Uber is entering its second quarter with something to celebrate. The rideshare app’s Q1 earnings surpassed analysts’ estimations for revenue. The company hauled in $8.82 billion, a slight increase over the $8.72 billion expected by analysts. The company reported a $157 million deficit, translating to 8 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $5.9 billion, or $3.03 per share, in 2022. Finally, the amount of Uber’s monthly active platform users reached 130 million, up 13% year over year. Users completed 2.12 billion trips with the app during this timeframe, up an impressive 24% year over year. The report prompted a 12% surge in the stock in after-hours trading.

David Ortiz Graces the Cover of ‘Super Mega Baseball 4’

Retired baseball legend David Ortiz is a cover star once again. On Tuesday, EA Sports’ Super Mega Baseball 4 revealed that the three-time World Series champion is the first-ever athlete to grace the front of the game, which will launch on June 2 . This is the first baseball game released by EA Sports for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo or PC consoles in more than a decade. Updated features include cinematic baseball thanks to new cameras, cutscene animations and lighting unique to every stadium. Additionally, it will feature players as immersive parts of the sounds of baseball with an all-new soundtrack with licensed and original music.
