Tom Brady and Fanatics Create a Multiverse of MLB Possibility

Designating 12/12 as Brady Day, the collectibles company re-envisioned a reality where the seven-time Super Bowl champion pursued a baseball career.

Tom Brady is debatably the best quarterback ever to play the game of football. However, his legendary career could have turned out wildly differently had a few different things happened.

There’s one critical question that pre-dates the defining moment of his career. Before: What if Drew Bledsoe never got knocked out by Mo Lewis?

Real Brady fans have to ask: What if Brady pursued his baseball dreams when he was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1995?

Fanatics, Topps, and Mitchell & Ness are doing just that on this Dec. 12 (12/12).

To commemorate the launch of the Topps 2023 Bowman Draft, Fanatics Collectibles is pulling out all the stops to celebrate “Brady Day.” First, the classic card company produced the first-ever Tom Brady baseball card that throws back to the 1995 draft, where he was selected in the 18th round as a catcher. The card includes handwritten notes from Brady, including, “If baseball doesn’t work out, there’s always football.”

However, the company is taking things one step further. They’ve re-imagined a world where Brady’s baseball career bred as much success and notoriety as his NFL legacy. Twenty-three season, seven World Series titles, and three MVPs.

To celebrate, Fanatics Collectibles created a multiverse reality in which Brady teams up with his would-have-been Expos teammates, including Vlad Guerrero Sr., Larry Walker, and eventual fellow Boston legend, Pedro Martinez. The spot highlights an equally prolific baseball career — that contains two World Series losses to the Giants, the San Francisco Giants. The spot comes complete with lots of Easter eggs relevant to our neighbors to the north.

Additionally, Mitchell & Ness will produce a limited run of Brady Expos jerseys.

Throughout the day, Fanatics will tend to the questions of “what if?” building out the alternative Expos reality. While Montreal’s loss was the gain of Patriots and Buccaneers nation, the possibilities of baseball greatness are exhilarating to entertain.

Had he world his way through the system, would Brady still be the GOAT? One can only imagine.
