NCAA Contemplating Compensation for Women’s Basketball

The South Carolina title was only the icing on the top of a massive season for college women’s basketball. Driven by stars such as Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, and Caitlin Clark, the game set new records in attendance and viewership, catching the eye of the NCAA. The teams who take their place at March Madness do not receive financial compensation, unlike the men’s side, and reports indicate that the governing body is examining a big change in the future. The opportunity comes, in part, from the women’s massive broadcasting deal with ESPN, which kicks off during the 2024-25 season.
